Turkish Maldives with blue charm
Lake Salda is a unique freshwater body of water with deep turquoise water and light, almost white sand, perceived by local residents as the Turkish equivalent of the Maldives. Situated at an altitude of 1140 meters above sea level, it was formed in a crater as a result of a volcanic eruption and is a completely natural phenomenon.
The lake is famous for its unusual blue hue and snow-white coastline, which attracts up to a million tourists per season. The length of the reservoir is 8 km and its width is 6 km, occupying a total area of 44 square kilometers. Included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, Lake Salda has become one of the five cleanest bodies of water in the world.
Swimming in Lake Salda is a real pleasure, as there are no waves or whirlpools, ensuring safe swimming. In the first 50 meters the water is shallow, about knee-deep, but this is where the very shade that is compared to the Maldives is revealed. In summer, the water temperature reaches 18-20 degrees, which makes it cool and pleasant for a swim, although not many people decide to swim because of this feature.
Cotton Castle Pamukkale
Pamukkale is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also carefully protected at the state level. Cotton Castle is the literal translation of the name Pamukkale from Turkish. From the outside, this miracle of nature really looks like a cotton castle or a snow castle.
Numerous travertine pools were formed as a result of a long process of deposition of mineral salts. The water in travertines has a temperature of 35 degrees, and due to the high content of salts and calcium, it is almost white.
In a certain place you are allowed to walk on the travertines after taking off your shoes. Here you can touch and closely examine these miraculous pools. And, of course, every tourist should take spectacular photographs here - as if you were standing in a swimsuit against the backdrop of snowy mountains!
Cleopatra's Pool – Imagine yourself in a large bathtub filled with champagne!
In its popular fame, Cleopatra's pool is not inferior to the travertines themselves. It looks like an antique jacuzzi with columns and bas-reliefs. The water in the pool is mineral and its composition is very rich in useful elements.
Imagine yourself in a large bathtub with champagne! This is how you will feel when you take a dip in Cleopatra's pool. You can swim among the bubbles or relax in the sun, sitting on one of the antique columns. There is an additional charge for entry to the pool. Its depth reaches a maximum of 3 meters.
Ancient Hierapolis and the Huge Ancient Amphitheater
Hierapolis was one of the first thermal resorts in history. Over the centuries, it has suffered from earthquakes more than once. But even to this day a huge ancient amphitheater and the ruins of the Temple of Apollo have survived. There is an archaeological museum on the territory of Hierapolis, which is still being updated with new finds from scientists and historians.
