Morning Pickup and South Lebanon Drive
Join us for an exciting journey as we pick you up from your hotels in Beirut. Our first stop is the historic city of Saida. We'll start our exploration at the Crusaders Sea Castle, Qala'at al-Bahr, which was built in 1228 on top of a Phoenician temple. This castle served as a protective fortress for Saida's harbor and was later restored by Fakhr el-Dine Maan II in the 17th century. The castle's current appearance includes recycled Roman stones, showcasing its enduring history. Explore the well-preserved west tower and use your imagination to picture the east tower, which houses a small domed mosque built by the Ottomans. A leisurely walk along the Corniche will treat you to beautiful views of the sea and Saida's busy fishing port.
Exploration of Sidon's Old Markets and Historical Sites
Continuing our journey, we'll take a stroll through Sidon's old markets, passing landmarks like the Khan Al-Saboun (old Sidon soap factory), Debbane Palace, Dar Ali Agha al-Hammud, and Dar Debbané. These Arab-Ottoman-style buildings have a rich history, with the palace constructed in 1721 by Ali Agha al-Hammud. The markets and historical sites offer a peek into Sidon's lively past and architectural heritage.
